“All those led by God’s Spirit
are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “ Abba, Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed.”Romans 8:14-19
This scripture came to mean so much when Scott and I had to deal with a situation that required us to have a LOT of extra grace. When we called out to Him-cried out to Him ‘Abba, Father’, He comforted us and ministered to us in such a sweet way. His very real presence in our time of trouble has taught us so much.We are not alone! In ministry, our focus is His glory, not our own. Because we don’t do this on our own, because we don’t rely on our own strength. He has carried us, we have unloaded our burden and been energized in our service. Praise Him that we don’t do it by ourselves.Pride still overcomes us. The ownership we take in the work we do is a God-like characteristic. He forms the light and creates darkness, he makes success and creates disaster. (Isaiah 45:7). The work of our hands is something of which we want to take ownership. We make decisions and want to stand by them. We want others to submit to our authority because we have put the work into it. Alas, we are NOT God! While having God-like characteristics, we are not sovereign. There is NO ONE like our God!He also gave us grace. He is our only Savior! He has forgiven us so much. He forgives us and teaches us to forgive others and be grace filled! Oh, what a bittersweet lesson! Mostly, sweet though! Reminds me of the hymn,
“Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!…grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within”.
We are feeling so thankful for being cleansed from within! Finally, oh how much more we love each other. How much stronger our ministry and devotion to the Lord! What a lesson! What a GOD!!
