The first time I met Tricia Conrey, in 2011, was in the parking lot of Gameday Baseball Practice Facility. Our boys played in the same team in middle school.
During that very first conversation we talked about orphans. She takes James’ words seriously as she cares for orphans. You see, then she was planning a trip to Haiti and was all full of excitement to go work at an orphanage there.
Since then, she and her husband, Peter, have embarked on the journey of international adoption. It is a long, complicated, expensive process. I have watched her walk through home studies and government forms and fundraisers. All the while praising God for the work He is doing. It has been a joy and encouragement. In June 2014, she shared her hope to have Lily home by Thanksgiving. Well, that holiday has come and gone and they are still trying to raise funds. All the while working and caring for their other children.
Little Lily is just two years old and was found abandoned shortly after birth. She was born with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, and Hip Dysplasia. She has already had several surgeries to help correct her issues and currently has a shunt to take care of the hydrocephalus.
Why would this family want to adopt a child with so many needs? Tricia reminds me: ‘We are all adopted.” The Lord brought us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. Praise Him!
Their heart is so sweet, so sincere, and they are faithfully stepping out in obedience to rescue sweet Lily. I want to be a part of that. Don’t you? Join them in this mission! PRAY with them! Then find out all the ways you can support financially (It’s FUN, like auctions!).
This week, they are hosting an on-line auction, you can find more information and follow their story: www.hisgiftofohana.blogspot.com
