A Spring Table

Laura had Big Plans for this little table.
It needed to lighten up and find a new purpose. Ah, that paint could do those things for some of US!?

With lots of red in her house, she wanted to find a nice complimentary color for this table. Maybe it was all the daffodils and forsythia blooming that inspired me to suggest yellow.
Also, side note, how cute is this vase(?) from HomeGoods!?!$15. Yup. (high-fives self)

Anyway, I don’t have much red in my house, but lightening it up with yellow seemed perfect. And, Laura was happy. Win!

We whipped up a couple batches of chalked paint and set to work apply two coats of each. We painted outside (praise the LORD! for a beautiful, warm day!) which made the drying time a bit longer than normal. Very high humidity and all that.  My sweet Abby (13) and her daughter, Jenna (4) played outside too. Lots of giggles.

We giggled with them as we painted this sweet yellow flower using a stencil on the top.  I think it ties the whole piece together with a pretty bow.

The finishing touches were some light sanding then clear & dark wax to give it an aged look. Laura is so pleased and looking forward to showing it off to her mom (it’s her mom’s mom’s table).

I hope she is pleased too!

I’m pleased with it too. This *almost* makes me want to paint with red more often!  What do you think? Do you like the color combo? What would you like to see paired with red?

**UPDATE** Laura shared this photo of the table in its new home:

Don’t have time for a class, but you want your furniture or cabinets renewed? I’d love to help!
